GRACE

Imagine Two Special Satellites🛰️🛰️ :

Imagine there are two really cool satellites named GRACE and GRACE-FO. They were sent into space to learn about our Earth. These satellites work together like a team to find out some amazing things about our planet.

Their Mission: Gravity and More💧

These satellites are on a mission to understand our Earth better. They do this by looking at something we can't see called "gravity." Gravity is what makes things fall to the ground, like when you drop a ball. But it also affects our Earth in many other ways.

Watching Earth for 15 Years🎮:

These satellites have been doing their job for a long time - 15 years! During this time, they've been like the Earth's detectives, always keeping an eye on what's happening down here.

Water Secrets:

One of the coolest things they do is watch how water moves around the Earth. They can see when there's too much water, like during floods, or when there's not enough water, like during droughts. This helps us prepare for and understand these natural events.

Ice and Sea Levels:

They also watch the ice at the North and South Poles. When the ice melts, it makes the sea levels rise. These satellites help us figure out how much the sea levels are rising, which is important because it can affect places where people live.

Saving Crops and Water🗣️:

GPM helped farmers know when to plant and water their crops. It also showed us how important rain is for our rivers and lakes.

Earth's Changing Surface:

But it's not just about water. They also see how the land on Earth moves and changes. This happens because of things like earthquakes and the way the Earth's surface shifts.

TThe Next Chapter

Even though the original GRACE mission ended, GRACE-FO, its successor, is still up there, continuing the work. It's like a new chapter in the story.
